One of the most important factors in dog health care information is how to portion out the food and treats that the dog gets during the course of each day. The dog will live longer and healthier if it receives the proper amount and type of food each day for its age and activity level. Many people do not portion out the dog’s food which leads to the dog becoming overweight. Overweight dogs like overweight people develop health issues that would not otherwise be there if the dog was kept at the proper weight. Dogs should always have a noticeable waistline, meaning that the waist should be tucked up under the dog’s body so that it is obviously there. In addition, dogs should not be fed table scraps but should be kept on a pure dog food diet. The dog food should be carefully chosen to reduce the amount of fillers used in it, so that the first ingredients are meat and whole grains, rather than meals or by products.
Another important factor in dog health care information is exercise. Dogs need to have at least fifteen minutes of play time three times per day. This helps to ensure that the dog is receiving the physical exercise that it needs in addition to gaining the psychological stimulation that it needs to stay happy and content. If a dog does not get this play time and exercise, then it can become destructive in the household which often will lead to it being abandoned when the owners cannot put up with it any longer. During the play time, the dog should be in a safe environment, such as a fenced in yard or on a leash so that it is protected.
